Book Tag #3: The Grinch Book Tag

It is officially Christmas and I am so excited! I had a lovely Christmas Eve which was full of baking, wrapping and a late night church service. Merry Christmas to all of you!

I found this tag through other blogs and I was so excited to do it. No, I am not a Grinch. I happen to love Christmas, but I love talking about books through whatever means possible. This tag was started on Thoughts on Tomes

HALF OF THE LIGHTS ON THE CHRISTMAS TREE ARE BURNT OUT:
(Name a book/series/character that started out good but then went downhill)

I really liked the first book in the 5th Wave series, but the other books went downhill. I never even finished The Last Star because my sister didn't like it.

ANNOYING GREAT AUNT SALLY WHO WILL NOT LEAVE YOU ALONE
(Name a book that you didn’t enjoy, but everyone else seems to love so it never goes away)

So many people loved this book and I thought it was overrated to be honest. The love story moved way too fast to be realistic and I didn't enjoy most of the characters.

YOUR PETS KEEP KNOCKING OVER THE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS
(Name a character that kept messing things up for everyone else (can’t pick a villain!)

I am not picking one character for this and instead am using many of the characters from the Percy Jackson series as these characters mess up so much stuff for each other.

YOU HEAR YOUR PARENTS PUTTING OUT THE PRESENTS AND LEARN SANTA ISN’T REAL
(Name a book you were spoiled for)

I'm breaking the rules a little bit and going to use a movie as I can't think of a book that I was spoiled for (though, I'm sure there was one). I am picking Star Wars The Force Awakens movie as one of my friends spoiled someone's death in it. I was so mad (and still am, two years later).

IT’S FREEZING OUTSIDE
(Name a main character you just couldn’t connect with)

There are quite a few characters that I could pick for this question but I am choosing Leda from The Thousandth Floor. I didn't understand why Leda was so annoying and rude for 95% of this book. I really couldn't connect with her and I didn't enjoy her character.

MARIAH CAREY’S ‘ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS YOU’
AND IT’S GIVING YOU ANTI-ROMANTIC FEELINGS
(Name a couple you couldn’t stand)

I've only read the first book of the Shadow and Bone trilogy, but I am using Alina and Mal because I couldn't stand them as a couple. I usually like best friend to couple tropes but this was not good. I didn't feel any chemistry and I prefer the Darkling and Alina.

THAT SCRATCHY HOMEMADE WOOL SWEATER YOU

GOT FOR CHRISTMAS YEARS AGO BUT WON’T GET RID OF
(Show some books that have been sitting on your shelves for a while, and you aren’t motivated to read, but you don’t have the heart to get rid of)

I have been collecting these for awhile and I haven't had the time or motivation to read them yet. But, I keep telling myself that I will so I keep them.

GRANDMA GOT RUNOVER BY A REINDEER
(Name a character death you still are mad about)

There are so many but I am going to choose Fred Weasley, Dobby and Sirius Black from the Harry Potter series. They all died way too soon for my liking.

THE MALLS ARE OVERLY
CROWDED
WITH HOLIDAY SHOPPERS
(Name a series that has too many books in it/went on too long)

The Shadowhunter series. There are way too many books in that series for me to finish. I am only on City of Glass because I am so overwhelmed.

THE GRINCH
(Name a main character you HATE)

He isn't the main character, but he is a very prominent character in this series. The person that I am talking about is, Gale Hawthorne from The Hunger Games trilogy.  I do not know why he was necessary as he annoyed me to no end.
