Weekly Recap: 9/4 - 9/17

I have decided to start doing a weekly post called weekly recap where I update you on my life, reading and watching. Plus any posts I have done or will do.

Sorry that I have been so absent this summer on my blog. I have been trying to read more.

School hasn't been too hard but to be fair, I am only entering the third week of school. I am also starting an internship tomorrow so that's exciting!

Now, let's get into recapping.

AUGUST '17 WRAP-UP

So, it's the end of the month and that means another wrap-up!

I did quite a bit of reading during the month of August despite having to get prepared for school and my internship which I start next week!

Join my book club: here.

 Anyways...

Time to talk about the books I read this month.

PHYSICAL BOOKS

The first physical book I read was Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen. I have only read one other book by Jane Austen which was Pride and Prejudice and I really enjoyed it. I did enjoy this one but I found it kind of boring and it wasn't nearly as entertaining as Pride and Prejudice which was disappointing. I still enjoyed the book and I liked Catherine, and many of the characters. I rated it 4 Crowns.

The second physical book I read was Legacy of Kings by Eleanor Herman. I loved this book so much. I loved that it was historical fiction and was about Alexander the Great when he was a teenager. It had a fantastic cast of characters and a great premise. I will be writing a review which should be up soon. I rated it 5 Crowns.

The third physical book I read was A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir. It has taken me so long to read this book. I honestly have checked it out from the library at least three times before I picked it up in August. The book itself was so good and I was really happy with it. I liked learning more about the characters and the world in this second installment and I was happy to see Laia come into her own. I rated this 4 Crowns.

The fourth physical book I read was Nexis by A.L. Davroe. This is another book that I have been trying to read for awhile and just was never really interested. This past month, I decided to finally take the plunge and pick up this book and I am so glad that I did because this was amazing. The whole virtual reality game premise was so interesting. I rated this 5 Crowns.

The fifth physical book I read was A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall. I actually read this entire book in a Barnes and Noble and let me tell you, this was a fast read and ridiculously adorable. It is about a girl and a boy who are in the same creative writing class and it is told through many points of view of people who ship them and want them to get together. I rated this 3 Crowns.

The sixth physical book I read was Wendy Darling Stars by Colleen Oakes. Fun fact about me is that I love Peter Pan retellings. Peter Pan retellings are my favorite type of retelling and I especially love it when Peter Pan is the hot villain. I loved how different this retelling was and how it was told from Wendy Darling's point of view and all her emotions are clearly visible. This was pretty fast paced and I loved it. I rated this 4 Crowns.

The seventh physical book I read was Ms. Marvel No Normal by Willow G. Wilson. This was a comic book which I don't normally read as I'm not into that sort of thing but I heard so much about this one so I decided to pick it up. I love how she's Muslim and it shows a lot about what her life is like being a Muslim girl with strict parents. I rated it 4 Crowns.

The eighth physical book I read was Wendy Darling Seas by Colleen Oakes. This was the second book after Wendy Darling Stars and I actually loved this even more than the first one. Wendy Darling really came into her own during this book and she was much stronger which I liked. I also liked seeing more characters in this book. I rated this one 5 Crowns.

The ninth physical book I read was Empire of Dust by Eleanor Herman. This is the second book after Legacy of Kings and I enjoyed this just as much as the first book. I loved getting to see the whole plot twist at the end of the first book play out. I also loved seeing the characters interact more and the plot get better. I rated it 5 Crowns.

ARC'S READ

The first ARC I read was An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson. I did a full review of this one so I'm not going to talk too much about it but I got a physical ARC from Simon and Schuster and I am so happy to have gotten to read it early. I loved the fae in this book and the romance and the characters. I rated this 5 Crowns.
