Top Ten Tuesday|| Books that Will Make You Laugh

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish that other bloggers are welcome to join in, to create Top Ten lists on varying topics. This week it's Top Ten Books That Will Make You Laugh.

I love a good book to make me laugh. Books that make me cry leave me unhappy for a long time and I'd rather have a good laugh. These are just some of the main books/series that have really made me laugh. 

1 Harry Potter 

by J.K. Rowling

Harry Potter thinks he is an ordinary boy. He lives with his Uncle Vernon, Aunt Petunia and cousin Dudley, who are mean to him and make him sleep in a cupboard under the stairs. (Dudley, however, has two bedrooms, one to sleep in and one for all his toys and games.) Then Harry starts receiving mysterious letters and his life is changed forever. He is whisked away by a beetle-eyed giant of a man and enrolled at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The reason: Harry Potter is a wizard! 

Harry Potter was probably an obvious choice on this list and I admit I was almost not going to include it but it made me laugh a ton. Like come on. Ron and Hermione's banter is hilarious. 

2 The Percy Jackson Series

Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can't seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse—Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy's mom finds out, she knows it's time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he'll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends—one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena—Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods

If you don't know already, then I shall tell you know, I love this series. It is a Middle Grade series and it is about a boy who is the son of a Greek God. The humor in this book is great. All the characters are hilarious and it is a whole lot of fun to read. 

3 The Lunar Chronicles

by Marissa Meyer

Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

This series is another one of my favorite series. All of the books are Sci-Fi retellings of fairytales. The first book is a retelling of Cinderella. The second a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, the third a retelling of Rapunzel and the fourth is a retelling of Snow White. Of course these all intertwine. This series is hilarious. Iko is one character who brings humor to every page she's on. 

4  City of Bones

by Cassandra Clare

When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know... 

This book is really funny. Some of Jace's lines just had me laughing outloud and my friends looked at me with concern but I didn't care. You need to read this book as it is amazing and hilarious! 

5 The Iron King

by Julie Kagawa

Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.

Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil, no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart.

I've only read the first book in this series so I don't know if the other books will be funny but this one was pretty funny. I can not wait to continue.  

6 Keeper of the Lost Cities

by Shannon Messenger

There are secrets buried deep in Sophie’s memory—secrets about who she really is and why she was hidden among humans—that other people desperately want. Would even kill for.

This series is a Middle Grade that I don't think many people know about but it happens to be one of my favorites. The characters are so lovable and there are moments when you just laugh a ton. 

7 Kingdom Keepers

by Ridley Pearson

In this fantastical novel, Disney's Magic Kingdom suddenly becomes a bit eerie. Finn Whitman and four other teens have been hired as Disney World guides, but with an odd twist: With cutting-edge technology, they have been transformed into hologram projections capable of leading guests around the park. What begins as an exciting theme park job turns into a virtual nightmare as Finn and his pals attempt to thwart an uprising by a menacing group of Disney villains.

I love this series and I sadly have still not finished it. There are many funny moments in this series and that brings joy to the times when I have a lot of stress or worries. Yes, this is a Middle Grade series but it is great and everyone should try it out. 

8 The Maze Runner

This is one of my favorite series. The Gladers are so funny especially MInho who's sarcastic comments just make the book a whole lot funnier. 

9 The Kane Chronicles

Since their mother's death, Carter and Sadie have become near strangers. While Sadie has lived with her grandparents in London, her brother has traveled the world with their father, the brilliant Egyptologist, Dr. Julius Kane. 

One night, Dr. Kane brings the siblings together for a "research experiment" at the British Museum, where he hopes to set things right for his family. Instead, he unleashes the Egyptian god Set, who banishes him to oblivion and forces the children to flee for their lives. 

Soon, Sadie and Carter discover that the gods of Egypt are waking, and the worst of them —Set— has his sights on the Kanes. To stop him, the siblings embark on a dangerous journey across the globe - a quest that brings them ever closer to the truth about their family and their links to a secret order that has existed since the time of the pharaohs

Yes, another Rick Riordan series is on this list. It is positively hilarious and so well written. The siblings are really funny together.
